Critical Illness Insurance through The Hartford can help fill medical plan coverage gaps with a cash benefit upon the diagnosis of specific medical conditions.  The covered diagnoses include cancer, heart attack, stroke, major organ transplant among others.  You may purchase this protection for you and your eligible dependents.  Rates are based on age and tobacco status.  Please refer to the per pay period rate tables found at the right.

Plan Features:

• You may choose for yourself either a $10,000 policy or a $20,000
• Your spouse’s benefit will be 50% of your coverage amount.  Children have a coverage amount of $5,000
• No evidence of insurability is required (though pre-existing condition limitations may apply)
• The benefit is paid directly to you in a lump sum and is not taxable
• An annual $50 benefit is paid to each covered member who completes a Health Screening activity
• Coverage ends at age 80 for employee and spouse coverages and at age 26 for child coverage
