Things to Consider about the Dental Plan
When you need dental care, you can go to any provider you choose. However, using network providers can save you money in two ways:
- Participating network providers agree to accept Delta Dental’s fee based on their agreement with Delta Dental, which is typically lower than a provider that does not participate in a Delta Dental Network
- You do not have to pay any amount above Delta Dental’s allowed fee when you receive care from a provider that participates in one of Delta Dental’s networks (PPO Network or Premier Network)
Standard PPO Benefits
In the Standard PPO plan there are two different network panels of dentists from which to access care, the PPO Plan Network and the Premier Plan Network. Though the benefits are the same under both networks, PPO Plan dentists offer the highest level of discounts while the Premier Plan network has a larger number of participating dentists but with lower level of discounts.
Keep in mind that your out of pocket costs will be less if you stay within the PPO or Premier networks. If you receive care from a dentist who is not in either of these networks your out of pocket costs will be more and you may be billed the difference between the dentist’s charge and the Delta allowable amount for that service.

Value PPO Benefits
Under the Value Plan there are only benefits for Preventive and Basic Services which are received from a dentist in the PPO network. The annual benefit maximum is $1,000 per person and the annual deductible is $50 per person with a $150 deductible maximum for families.
